History of the United Methodist Church in BradshawIn 1871, Reverend W.E. Morgan was preaching the word of God in a sod house on Lincoln Creek. It was the first Methodist Church in the Bradshaw area. When the Eberhart schoolhouse was built in 1873, services were moved there. The Methodists bought land in Section 7 Township 11 Range 4, where a parsonage was built in 1878. This was sold in 1881 and land was purchased in Bradshaw, where the first Methodist Church was built.
On June 3, 1890, a violent tornado struck Bradshaw and the church was destroyed as well as many other buildings. A new church building was soon erected. In 1908, a gas furnace was installed with an ambitious project in 1914 to lift the church three feet for a basement addition. Stained glass windows were installed in 1931.
As the congregation continued to provide for the spiritual needs of the community, it became evident as the Church's centennial approached several necessary improvements were needed. In August of 1992, ground was broken for our current brick building, which is totally handicap accessible. The first worship service in the current building was held on February 7, 1993.
